Frequently Asked Questions about Frozen Desserts and Ice Creams
Yes. HUL had filed suit against the TVCs of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets Amul ice cream, for disparaging or denigrating the KWALITY WALL'S Frozen Desserts products. In this Suit, the Hon’ble Bombay High Court vide its order dated 16th June 2017, had asked GCMMF, to stop telecasting its misleading television advertisement. The Court had found the advertisement disparaging the ’Frozen Desserts’ category. GCMMF had preferred an Appeal before the Division Bench of Bombay High Court. The Division Bench of Bombay High Court vide its order dated 13th December 2018, had upheld the earlier order for a single judge confirming that the two TVCs of GCMMF were indeed disparaging and therefore injunction granted earlier was confirmed to the extent the disparaging frames from the TVC were removed. The Court has also injuncted air or similar disparaging Advertisement against Frozen Dessert as a category. The Court, however, had allowed GCMMF to air TVC after removing disparaging frames. Yes, Kwality Wall’s products have milk/milk solids in them.
Dear Valued Customers,
We are aware of some social media posts that have been circulating, showing our Kwality Wall’s products in a state that does not reflect our high standards of quality. These posts depict our products stored outside the recommended conditions, leading to melting and phase separation
The separation seen in these videos is a result of improper storage conditions. When the ice cream or frozen dessert products are not kept at the correct temperature, they can lose their structure and separate. The liquid at the bottom, often misrepresented as oil, is a mixture of water, sugar, protein, and fat. This is a natural occurrence when the product is not stored as recommended.
What you need to know:
Ice creams and frozen desserts have a complex structure comprising ice, air, and fat, which is maintained by keeping them at sub-zero temperatures. If left at room temperature for extended periods, these products can melt and curdle, separating into milk solids and liquids that may appear as a yellowish watery residue. This yellowish liquid is mostly water with dissolved ingredients, sugar, protein, fat, etc., and should not be mistaken for palm oil. This is similar to how milk curdles and separates if not stored properly.
We urge you to be cautious of misleading information and to always follow the storage instructions provided on our packaging. Please be assured that maintaining the quality of our products remains our top priority. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Regards,

No, Kwality Wall’s products do not have Vanaspati in them.
Yes. While both ice cream and frozen dessert certainly contain milk/milk solids, the main difference between the two is in the source of fat. Frozen desserts use vegetable oil in place of milk fat, which actually makes Frozen Desserts responsibly delicious as it has much lower saturated fat content and is trans-fat free!
Vanaspati means any refined edible vegetable oil subjected to the hydrogenation process. Vegetable oils have lower saturated fat and no trans-fat unlike Vanaspati.
Kwality Wall’s primarily uses Vegetable oil as the source of fat in its frozen dessert range to deliver products with better nutrition profile and great taste to consumers. In fact, owing to the use of vegetable oil, Kwality Wall’s frozen dessert range typically has much lower saturated fat and is trans-fat free as compared to Ice Creams.
Frozen Desserts can certainly be enjoyed as an occasional treat as part of a responsibly delicious balanced diet and active lifestyle.
